OUR PROCESS

DRAWING

At the very beginning, each idea is sketched on paper. Later, the drawing is carefully improved reaching the desired, perfect result.

DRAFTING

Each idea is carefully drafted before it is handed over to our carpenter, taking into account both the safety and practicality of the toy. Every part, detail and edge must have a pleasant touch to it, since we strive for our toys to be top tier quality and durability.

CRAFTING

Using the given drafts, our carpenter pays a lot of importance, responsibility and care to each work. Producing each wooden block, puzzle piece, figurine - every little detail requires a lot of patience and professional craftsmanship.

PAINTING

When a carpenter's work arrives into the hands of our artist, it then becomes a work of art. Both the picture artist, painting every detail with a fine and delicate brush, and the painter, painting the cubes with quality colors, give each of our toys originality and uniqueness.

Our origins

20 years and still going

The origins of our company can be traced back to post-Soviet Latvia, when children's developmental toys were in short supply. Two young, married doctors, thinking about their firstborn, concluded that no children’s toy store offered or specialized in what is necessary for the development of a child’s motoric, cognitive, psychological and physiological skills. Aware of this problem, the company “Domiņa” was created - with the idea in mind of Latvian children, whose play boxes had been missing much-needed toys for development. From the very beginning, it was clear that quality and handwork were key. That's why even today, more than 25 years later, every toy is created and painted by hand, so that once purchased, it will serve the next generations ahead.

Over the years, the company has grown - toys are created and improved not only with the help of foreign literature, but also in cooperation with the country's leading psychologists, educators and experts in alternative education, so that each item is perfect for a child of the appropriate age. Parents have also made a great contribution in telling us, how the toys have settled in the family and how the child has reacted. We highly value this feedback since it has helped us perfect and improve our toys to the very maximum. Our products and toys have made their place not only in Latvian kindergartens and developmental institutions, but in foreign schools as well.
