It is very important that, from an early age, parents offer their child age-appropriate puzzles. The best ones are non-traditional puzzles where a point of reference is not given (e.g the complete picture on the lid of the carton puzzle box) because this way, the game becomes so much more productive and effective regarding skill development.
During our long practice, we have noticed that, when it comes to puzzles, children can be divided into two groups - the ones, who are more successful completing puzzles with a picture divided in jigsaw pieces, and those, who are more successful with a picture divided in non-traditional shapes. This difference in abilities indicates different activities in different development fields. However, comprehensive development requires both of these capabilities. Because the puzzle is not just about putting together a picture - it is a whole development process.
That's why we've designed this set with two types of puzzles. One of the gnomes is divided into jigsaw pieces, the other - in different shapes and sizes.
The most important key of the methodology is the principle of "step by step". Which means we only start by "taking out" one dwarf, starting by just a few pieces, so the child can put the picture together on his own. This is followed by the dismantling of the next dwarf. And very soon the little one will be able to spend time synchronously putting both puzzles.
Each piece is sawn and painted by hand, which means that each dwarf is different and holds its own personal touch.
Good luck!
